AUDITION INFORMATION FOR THE SEPTEMBER AUDITIONS
including an invitation for a special free workout on August 22nd!

{breakout} has been in existence for a little over a year, but we already have our own home at Edmonds' Phoenix Theatre. We specialize inlong form improv, but we use short form techniques in many of our shows and will do some short form shows as a way to gain chemistry and get ready for our original productions.

After being an invitation only company for the first year,we are holding our first auditions in Early September. They will be open to anyone interested in improv, but we suggest that you bring with you one of two things:

1. A background in improv from an education track such as Jet City Improv or Unexpected Productions.

2. A background in comedy, scripted theatre or improv theatre that allows you to understand what its like to be on stage and perform in front of an audience.

More importantly, {breakout} has always succeeded when we have great chemistry, and we will be looking for people that can play together as much as we are looking for mad skills.

The auditions will take place in Early September on a Sunday night at the Phoenix Theatre in Edmonds. All subsequent rehearsals will take place on the stage at the Phoenix from 7-9:30 on Sunday nights, with some chemistry get togethers before some of the rehearsals (pizza or burger dinners). Rehearsals are mandatory, as well as availability for the long form shows in November and December. Excused absences from rehearsals will be at the sole discretion of the director.

When you audition with us, you will be auditioning for the Fall/Winter season, which will consist of the following shows.

At the Phoenix:

September 26 – Strike the Set – an improv show based on"Once in a Lifetime"

November 14 – Strike the Set – an improv show based on "The Complete History of America, Abridged"

November 19-20 – Original Show – Long Form Original show

December 3-4 – Original Show – Long Form Original show

Other potential shows

Short Form at the Phoenix in October

{barprov} at the Redline in West Seattle or One Eyed Jack's in Lynnwood

Our director for the Fall/Winter season is Christine Mosere. Christine is currently directing "Once in a Lifetime" at the Phoenix and is an accomplished actress with an impressive resume on television and Off-Broadway. We are working out the final details of the season with her, but we could not be more excited that she has joined us. She also has a long teaching background in both acting, musical theatre and improv.

Following the conclusion of the Fall/Winter season, we will move on to a new season (January-May 2011). Those who have passed the Fall/Winter audition will be given automatic callbacks for the new season, but are not guaranteed a spot in the new show. We do this for two reasons. We want people to enjoy being a part of the troupe, but don't want them to feel obligated that they cannot leave if they have a commitment during some part of the year. Secondly, it keeps things fresh and allows us to cast specifically for a new show.

There is no monetary compensation for your performances, but on the other hand, there is no cost to you for rehearsal space or director's time. The group is self sustaining, but shares its revenue with the audience. Any kind of money made goes back into the group, where we will from time to time, have cast gifts.

Still sound good?

We let you know when the audition will take place and at that time, we will want you to bring a resume, a headshot, and list of potential conflicts to the audition. And don't forget your eh-game!

Thanks for your interest in {breakout}
